Founded in March 1850 during the Edo period, Tsuboichi Tea Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is one of Japan’s oldest and most esteemed tea producers, carrying over 170 years of heritage in the art of Japanese tea-making. Originally established as “Tea Merchant Yamaichi” in Sakai City (birthplace of Japanese tea-joying culture), Osaka Prefecture, the company has grown from a traditional family-owned tea shop into a globally recognized manufacturer and retailer of premium teas.

Tsuboichi Seicha Honpo has established a strong reputation for quality, safety, and reliability through internationally recognized certifications and awards. The company has been certified under ISO 9001 since 2009, reflecting its long-standing commitment to systematic quality management and continuous improvement. In 2011, it received the Osaka Food Safety and Security Certification, and in 2014, the company was further honored with the Osaka Governor’s Award for excellence in food safety practices. Additionally, its premium tea “Tokusen Rikyu no Uta” was recognized in 2012 as an Osaka-origin specialty product (“おおさかもん”), highlighting its cultural and regional authenticity.

In line with global market requirements, Tsuboichi has expanded its certifications in recent years. The company’s second factory achieved FSSC 22000 certification in February 2023, ensuring compliance with the highest international food safety standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). In July 2024, the facility obtained Organic JAS certification for organic processing and repackaging, followed by Halal certification in August 2024 from the Japan Islamic Culture Center, covering 14 selected products.

Today, Tsuboichi operates with a skilled workforce of around 80 professionals across two modern facilities in Takaishi City, Osaka, producing an extensive range of teas including Japanese tea, Chinese tea, black tea, health teas, tea bags, and fine powdered tea blends. The company also manages a network of Saryo Tsuboichi Tea Cafés, bringing authentic Japanese tea culture to both domestic and international consumers.
