A solar water heater, also known as a solar thermal system, is a renewable energy technology designed to harness the sun's energy to heat water for various domestic, commercial, and industrial applications. Solar water heaters are an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to conventional water heating systems that rely on electricity or gas.
Solar water heater is the conversion of sunlight into renewable energy for water heating using a solar thermal collector. Solar water heating systems comprise various technologies that are used worldwide increasingly. In a basic installed solar water heating system, the storage tank is horizontally mounted immediately above the solar collectors on the roof. No pumping is required as the hot water naturally rises into the tank through thermosiphon flow. These systems are designed to deliver hot water for most of the year. However, during rainy season there sometimes may not be sufficient solar heat gain to deliver sufficient hot water. A pre-installed heater element or any sort of immersion heater will then be used as a back-up to assist the heating process.
